Privacy Policy

AhTown is run by Directory Three LLC, a small New Jersey business. This page says, in plain words, what we collect, what we do with it, and what we never do. The short version is at the top of our homepage, and this page matches it.

What we collect

When you upload a quote

• The files you upload (photos or PDFs of a quote), the job type, the ZIP code of the house, and anything you type about the job.
• Your first name, your email, and your mobile number if you give it.
• Your answer to “Want a second quote?” and the exact consent text you ticked, with the time you ticked it.
• Technical details that come with any web request: browser type, the page you came from, and campaign tags in the link you clicked.

When you’re a home service pro

• What you put on a seat request or a /booked-jobs form: name, company, email, phone, trade, towns, website.

On every page

• Anonymous usage counts (page views, button clicks, which step of the upload form people reach) through Vercel Analytics, Google Analytics and our own event log. These carry no name, email, phone or ZIP code. Google Analytics is never loaded on your quote analysis, the second-quote page or the deletion pages, and never when your browser sends Global Privacy Control.

The Meta Pixel

We use the Meta Pixel to measure which of our Facebook and Instagram ads lead to quote uploads. It tells Meta that a page was viewed, that the upload form came into view, and that an upload went through, along with the job type (like “roofing”) and the page name. It never receives your quote, your files, your name, email, phone number or ZIP code. Meta sets a cookie in your browser to do this. To opt out, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser (we don’t load the Pixel at all when it’s on), block third-party trackers in your browser settings, or change your ad settings at Meta’s Ad Preferences.

What we do with it

• Your quote goes to one place: our analysis. Our proprietary tool reads it, asks you a few questions, and compares it against what the same job goes for in your area, and we email you a plain-English read. Access to your quote is limited to AhTown.
• We email you a receipt when you upload, the analysis itself, and replies to anything you send us. If you gave a mobile number, we may text you once to say the analysis is ready.
• Before anything about your quote goes into our price database, we strip your name, email, phone and street address. The database only knows, for example, that a $9,400 patio was quoted in 07748.
• We count uploads, by job type and ZIP, to see whether this service is useful. Those counts carry no personal information.

Who we share it with

• Nobody, unless you ask for a second quote. If you say yes and tick the sharing box, we pass your first name, contact details, job type, ZIP, your notes and the quoted price to exactly one business: the AhTown pro for that trade in or near your ZIP code, so they can contact you about a second quote. Never more than one, and never without that box ticked.
• The services that run the site: Vercel (hosting and the encrypted storage your files sit in), Resend (email), Tally (the pro invite form), Vercel Analytics, Google Analytics, and Anthropic (the AI behind the quote desk: your quote and what you type to the desk are sent to it for that conversation and the draft analysis, under terms that do not allow training on them). They process data for us under their own terms and do not get to use it for themselves.
• Meta, through the Meta Pixel described above: page views, the upload form coming into view, and finished uploads, with the job type and page name only. Meta handles that data under its own privacy policy.
• If the law requires it, or to protect someone from harm.

What we never do

• We never sell or trade your information. Not to contractors, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
• We never give a contractor your quote or your contact details unless you asked for a second quote.
• We never run ads on this site or let anyone pay to see who uploaded.
• We never send marketing email you didn’t ask for.

Email, calls and texts

Uploading a quote means we email you about it. If you also tick the second-quote box, you agree that the one AhTown pro we pass it to may call or text you about a second quote, including with automated or recorded messages. That consent is not required to get your analysis. Reply STOP to any text to stop it, and message and data rates may apply. Pros who request a seat agree that we may call, text or email them about it.

Cookies and browser storage

Vercel Analytics counts visits without cookies. Google Analytics sets its own cookies (named _ga) to count returning visitors; turn on Global Privacy Control or block third-party trackers to stop it. The Meta Pixel sets a Meta cookie so we can tell which ads lead to uploads (see The Meta Pixel for how to opt out). When you arrive from an ad, the campaign tags in that link (like utm_source) are kept in your browser tab until you close it, so an upload can be credited to the right ad. The upload form keeps nothing else in your browser after you leave the page.

How long we keep information

Your files and your record stay until you ask us to delete them, so you can come back and ask a follow-up question about your analysis. Anonymized price data (job type, ZIP, price, scope) stays in our database. Pro seat requests stay while the seat exists.

Security

Files are stored in private, encrypted storage with no public web address. The only way to open one is a signed link that goes to John’s inbox. Everything travels over HTTPS. No system is perfect, and if we ever had a breach that affected you we would tell you.

Your rights and choices

• Delete. Go to ahtown.com/delete-my-quote, type the email you used, click the link we send, and every file and record under that email is gone. Or email john@getahtown.com and John does it by hand the same day.
• See or correct. Email us and we’ll send you what we hold about you, or fix it.
• Change your mind about the second quote. Email us before the pro has reached out and we’ll pull it back. After that, tell the pro directly and tell us too, and we’ll make sure they stop.

Children

AhTown is for adults with a house and a quote. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Address removal and Daniel’s Law

If your name or address appears anywhere on AhTown and you want it removed, including requests under New Jersey’s Daniel’s Law, use this page or email us. We act within 10 business days.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or who we share it with, the homepage privacy section and this page change first, the date at the top moves, and anyone with an open quote gets an email.
